My laptop is shoddy these days. Everything I do causes it to hang for at least two seconds. I removed a few programs (but none which run in the background, so I doubt it lightened the load on my processor). Damn, when I watch the screen, what I'm typing is about 2 letters behind where my fingers are. That's poor.
I increased the amount of hard-drive space which may be used as RAM, however I think this is perhaps only incase of emergency or something, because it doesn't seem to be performing much better.
You know it's time for a new machine when it struggles to run MSN and iTunes simultaneously. And a web browser? Sucka, you must be dreamin'.
Ho, hum. 78 days of work left. Not bad, I suppose.
I wonder who came up with the examples for the "Labels for this post" field on here: "scooters, vacation, fall". I suppose people write blogs concerning their holidays fairly frequently, but who's writing about scooters and a season? Not to mention a season which is not currently occurring in America or England. Not that America gives a shit about England, as long as we do what it says. I know very little about politics. And philosophy. And everything, really. There's so much to know in the world, I'm not sure how people keep up. I mean, I'm hardly an idiot, how do the masses blag their way through elections and such? I don't know. I suspect someone will come up with a really clever response to this. Most likely Greg or Hugo. S'weird, I've never even met you, Hugh. Come to my house at easter, yeah? Gonna do lots of psycho-whatsit drugs. It'll be fun. HOW hilarious would it be if my parents stumbled across this blog? I gave them my YouTube address, luckily they didn't spot the bong in any of the movies from summer.

I got new shoes, and I really like them. If I see you in the near future, I'll probably say "look at my new shoes!". They aren't that good, really, but I've been a converse man for so long now, I'm enjoying the change.
Nine Inch Nails on Wed, woop.

Send that laptop my way sir, I'll sort it out for ya AND show you how to use Linux ;) You know you've been waiting so long haha
I disagree - I try out Linux about once a year, and last month tried the latest Ubuntu. I don't think it offers any benefits at all over XP for me, or would for the average user. And the disadvantages (slow; driver support; difficult for the lay user to install programs, etc) are quite big disadvantages.
Start>Run regedit
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
This registry key contains a list of programs to run at startup. Delete the ones you know you don't want.
Though the new ntfs-3g drivers for fuse were very useful for retrieving some data from a borked ntfs partition (shrinking a partition with data still on it - stupid me!).

Disagree about what? I only mentioned Linux because Jack was trying to get it to work a while ago. Sure it might not offer much benefits over Windows and I certainly don't use it on a day-to-day basis but it's still nice to know and learn a new O/S.
Ah, sorry. I misinterpreted you; the fault is mine. You're absolutely right about being able to use another OS. It's very useful; I used the Ubuntu live-CD a couple of weeks ago so I could use my computer at uni before I took it home to move all my data onto the server and format the drive.
Party some time around Easter would be nice.
No probs. I haven't really dabbled with it that much tbh. Used Red Hat and the Knoppix bootable CD, which is what Jack was trying to get working ;)
I know my parents, especially my mum, have been on my site a number of times, but any time something on there pisses her off i use the justification of repeatedly telling her to stop going on there to be more annoyed at her than she is at me. Like if they ever found anything like a pipebomb or violent Jihadist literature in my room i'd be more pissed off that they were going through my stuff than they would be at finding it. The fact my clothes and room regularly smell funky, my repeated mentioning how cannabis is harmless and 'barely even a drug' is a bit of a give away with the drqs, and the fact they were at the police station one time when Muller was arrested cos i'd coincidentally been mugged on the same day. I've been legal for 9 weeks, partly by choice, mostly through laziness.
I also thought up a 'really clever response' while drunk at about 3 in the morning the other day. By which i mean i came up with a really immature repsonse, but i've forgotten it now.
I don't like your new shoes.
Hugo "2 monitors" Hadlow.
The new Maddox article about Macs isn't as good as Charlie's as it mostly goes over the same ground as every mac-hating piece, and it's starting to get cliche to tell mac users they can't shut up. In a few months pc users will be complaining that mac users can't shut up about PC users not being able to shut up about complaining that mac users can't shut up.
they are falling off the scooter
"Hugo '2 monitors' Hadlow"? My Shuttle unfortunately was just out-of-date when I bought it, so has nForce 2 and GeForce 4 MX, and so won't support 1280x1024 when using two monitors. Damn.
it247.com have been doing decent HP 20.1" flatscreens. I considered buying two, but the price went up (it was 170-50= £120)
Yeah, I'm not so keen on the shoes. A TK Maxx special? My red shoes are falling apart, slowly, and I can't find any replacements at TK Maxx in Cambridge or Greenwich that I like. I won't pay more than £20 for a pair of shoes, and I wouldn't want to wear shoes that say "Duffs" on the front. Really I just want the exact same pair of shoes I have already. Next time they have a decent pair of shoes, I'm going to buy three pairs. That should last me a decade.
Yeah, Macs, boring.
I've been listening to the discography of Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine. They do lounge music versions of things like "Enter Sandman", "People = Shit" (Slipknot), "Rock the Casbah" etc. Not as clever or technically able as Gordon Goodwin, but still awesome and hilarious.
"For a couple of girls, Azure Ray are amazing."
I dont get that, why not for a couple boys?
